No wood turning? No problem! For a home workshop, you can make a simple home-made lathe. And you can place it right on your desktop - very convenient.

The main material for making a lathe is wood. You can also use plywood. A power drill is suitable as an electric drive. The screwdriver will not cope with this task, so it can not be considered.

First you need to saw off four pieces of the board of the same thickness. And as a base, you can use a wooden board glued from several boards or a sheet of plywood. Both options are good.

The main stages of work

Four blanks need to be glued in pairs, having first rounded their corners on one side. Then, in the first workpiece, it is necessary to drill the seats under the nuts. And so that the nuts tightly “sit down”, it is necessary to cut a hexagonal shape inside the hole with a chisel.

And a hole of a larger diameter is drilled in the second wooden blank so that the “neck” of the electric drill can be inserted into it. And in the end, we get two racks - between them the workpiece will rotate.

At the last stage of the work, the master makes the remaining parts and proceeds to assemble the lathe. By the way, for the drill it will be necessary to make a supporting platform of three bars.
