A home-made drill stand can be used in a home workshop and garage, when you need to drill holes in wood and metal workpieces as accurately as possible. And it’s much cheaper to assemble it yourself than to buy it.

Using this drill stand, you can securely fix the power drill and quickly center the drill. Moreover, the author additionally uses a home-made electromagnet. This allows him to accurately drill holes at an angle of 90 degrees in a horizontal position.

First of all, the master cuts off two steel blanks 25 cm long from a steel round log with a diameter of 16 mm. Then flange bushings with a bearing are put on them.

The main stages of work

The flange bushings are attached to a metal plate to which a drill mount is also welded. The fastening itself is simple to do - a piece of pipe of a suitable diameter is cut off. It is necessary to make a slot in it, and then two nuts must be welded at the edges.

At the next stage of work, the master cuts another plate from a piece of metal, on which guides from a round bar will be fixed. Between the bushings and rail mounts, springs are installed.

Next, you will need an electromagnet, which can be easily removed from the compressor (for example, from a car air conditioner). In the bottom plate of the drill stand, it will be necessary to provide holes for attaching this magnet.
