If you have a boat, but no motor, it’s easy to do it yourself. To do this, you will need a gear unit from a grinder, a drill or a screwdriver with a battery, as well as pipe cuts and fasteners that can be found in every workshop.
Motor assembly: milestones
First of all, we disassemble the grinder and get the gear unit, which also will need to be disassembled and cleaned of grease. Then we collect everything back - we insert a long hairpin into the hole in the bevel gear and fix it with a nut. Do not forget to grease gears with solid oil.
The gear housing through the factory holes is screwed to the screws on a small metal plate. Then we wind the nut onto the hairpin, put on the sleeve (it can be made from a tube of suitable diameter) and clamp it with another nut and washer.
Next, we attach a plastic two-blade screw designed for outboard motors to the stud. Fix it with a cap nut. A tube is put on the stud, into which the nut is pressed in - a bolt is screwed into it and tightened by a lock nut. A pipe of a larger diameter is put on the tube and screwed to the gear housing using aluminum corners.
Installation of the drive and mount to the boat
A rubber plug is inserted into the large pipe with a hole in the center for the bolt. The cap of the bolt must be sharpened so that it can be inserted into the cartridge of a cordless drill or screwdriver (you can use a stud instead of a bolt). At the last stage, we make brackets from steel corners for attachment to the boat.
