Broken drills are not uncommon. The author proposes not to throw them away, but to use them to make a bit holder for bits on a rotary hammer.
The main idea of this homemade product is that you can do without the use of additional cartridges and adapters, and use a ready-made nozzle.
With its help, you can use a punch to screw the screws into drywall and wooden workpieces. This idea has a number of obvious disadvantages, which we will definitely discuss at the end of the article.
The main stages of work
First of all, the author cuts a broken drill almost “to the root”, leaving only the “tail” itself, which is inserted into the perforator. You will also need to cut off part of the bit holder. Then the parts are welded together.
The bit holder allows you to use a hammer drill instead of a screwdriver, not only to tighten the screws, but also, for example, an anchor. To do this, install a head of a suitable diameter.
I must admit that the idea of twisting the screws with a puncher is clearly a bust, because after 5-10 minutes of work, the desire to twist something and unscrew it will disappear completely. But the option with the head has a place to be. For example, to tighten the anchor with a perforator when the “shurik” power is not enough.
Nevertheless, the main problem is that at home, holding the tail of the drill and the bit holder in a vise, it is unlikely that they can be coaxially welded. The result is quite predictable: the bat will “wag” like a dog’s tail.
