As practice shows, inexpensive Chinese axle boxes, which are a dime a dozen in the markets, "do not live" for a long time. And when the faucet in the kitchen begins to drip and make “melodic” sounds when the valve is twisted, many simply change them for new ones or even buy other faucets.
However, why spend money (even small ones) when, in most cases, you can restore the old crane box to work almost free? This article will show you how to do this.
And the first thing you will need to remove the mixer valve and unscrew the crane box. This is done elementarily - any man in the house can handle it.
The main stages of work
The essence of the entire repair is quite simple - you just need to cut out the gasket from silicone, which should be installed under the rubber band on the crane box. Thus, it is possible to eliminate the leak from the tap and get rid of the annoying hum when closing the tap.
First, removes the o-ring, prying it with a flat screwdriver. And then you need to cut a thin gasket (about 1 mm thick) from the donor gum from the old crane box.
We install the gasket, and then put in place the "native" O-ring. That's all the work. Then we screw the crane box back. Fast, cheap and cheerful. Take note.
